Breaking it Down
It’s been a while since I put anything here, no?
Quite a while indeed. And, sadly, not for any good reason. Living on Plague TERF Island during Hellworld isn’t exactly easy, and I spent much of 2020 and early 2021 in a series of mental breakdowns. Right as I was finally pulling myself out of that mire, I smashed my elbow and had to go through surgery to put it right.
Which at least means my true name now includes the serial numbers of the ten surgical pins and two metal plates holding my left arm together. Now that’s what I call a mystical defence.
In short, I haven’t really felt anything like myself for at least two years. I certainly haven’t been able to write anything particularly coherent for much of that period. My game writing has rather withered on the vine; it’s always the case that without deadlines I’m at the mercy of my muse.1 And so I’ve learned a tremendous amount about poetry, because I find that easier (and faster) to complete than a full RPG. Also random essays and short fiction and all that sort of thing. Anything that I can do in a one-er.
And so I am tempted to turn the ship around a bit. I haven’t done any freelance RPG work in five years, and I’ve not self-published anything in nearly three. Better that this site reflects my creative output in general.
I’m not going to commit to a structure or a timescale or anything like that. But I will put things here more often, at least. I may even revive my (currently moribund) patreon to fund more than just game ideas that may never see the light of day.
