If you want to get in touch, I'd much prefer to receive email; I've spent too long using various IM services that I may block messages from people I don't know as a reflex action to prevent spam. I'm not quite so paranoid about new Twitter followers, but I'm not shy about reporting commercial accounts as spam if they're not contributing to the discussion. Act like a normal human being and I'll have no problems.
If this seems harsh, please remember: I'm a systadmin as well as a writer. I consider spam to be memetic pollution at best, and the kind of thing that should rightly be responded to with high explosives. Comes with the territory.
